'Fairy Tail' Sequel Welcomes Back Jellal, Twin Dragons

Link: https://comicbook.com/anime/2018/08/20/fairy-tail-sequel-jellal-twin-dragons-sabertooth-return-manga/
Fairy Tail fans are having a huge year because the series is releasing spin-offs, sequels, and even the final anime season all at once.
The coolest project is the official sequel, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, which has just brought back the fan-favorite Jellal, Sabretooth, and many more cool shout-outs fans are loving.
In the latest chapter of the manga, Jellal winds up in Fiore and speaks with the Sabertooth guild. He says he's just passing through, but in this moment fans learn a few things. One, Sorano is fitting in to the Guild nicely and is getting along with her sister Yukino still. Two, fans got to see new looks for the Twin Dragons of Sabertooth: Sting and Rogue (along with Frosch and Lector, naturally).
Jellal tells them he's in search of Touka, who had been introduced into the sequel in the first chapter as a new Fairy Tail guild member and someone who has a huge crush on Natsu. But Jellal is completely serious when he tells them not to interact with her under any circumstances. "Touka" is even a name she gave herself, as Jellal says her name is unknown.
To see Jellal speak of Touka so intensely is worrying, as he seemed to believe that even the Twin Dragons, two of the strongest mages in the Sabertooth guild, would be in danger around her. The two of them are Dragon Slayers bearing both White and Shadow Dragon Magic, so this warning should be taken with a huge amount of weight.
Fairy Tail was originally created by Hiro Mashima for Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine, running from 2006 to 2017 and selling over 60 million copies. The series is set in a fantasy world full of magic following Natsu Dragneela fire breathing wizard with the powers of a dragon who is in search of his missing foster father, the dragon Igneel. As he and his wizarding guild Fairy Tail get into adventures, Natsu always tries to find a way to succeed. The series was later adapted into an anime by A-1 Pictures, Dentsu Inc., and Satelight in 2009 and ended its first run in 2013. A second season ran from 2014 to 2016, and a third season is launching this October.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest is a sequel series taking place after the events of the original. With original storyboards provided by Hiro Mashima and illustrations by Atsuo Ueda, the series picks up on Natsu, Lucy, and the others' on their quest that no one has completed before.

Link: http://comicbook.com/anime/2018/08/13/one-punch-man-season-2-anime-release-reaction/
If you haven’t heard the good news, you should know One-Punch Man has fans worldwide rejoicing these days. After a lengthy wait, it seems the release of its new season has been decided upon, and social media is still buzzing about the big premiere.
Over the weekend, fans were first informed about One-Punch Man’s plans. The series hosted an anime event in Japan to celebrate all things Saitama, and it was there J.C. Staff confirmed season two will be dropping in April 2019.
As you can see below, fans are still raving about the news. For one, the announcement gave peace of mind to fans after a rumor assigning the season to a 2020 debut went viral. The 2019 date is far sooner than the first date rumored, and J.C. Staff gifted fans with a look at the season.
While the teaser trailer for One-Punch Man season two did not have new footage, a key visual for the project was shown. A poster featuring Saitama and Genos was released after it was shown in Japan. The background of the poster introduced a newcomer to the anime named Garou, a favorite character from the manga. So, you can imagine the excitement fans felt seeing the character animated for the first time.
A short synopsis for the new season was also released along with its cast list. You can check out the blurb below:
"Saitama is a hero who only became a hero for fun. After three years of “special training,” he’s become so strong that he’s practically invincible. In fact, he’s too strong—even his mightiest opponents are taken out with a single punch. Now, the great seer Madame Shibabawa’s prediction about the Earth being doomed seems to be coming true as the frequency of monster incidents escalates. Alongside Genos, his faithful disciple, Saitama begins his official hero duties as a member of the Hero Association, while Garou, a man utterly fascinated by monsters, makes his appearance."

'Sword Art Online' Season 3 World Premiere Event Details Revealed

Link: http://comicbook.com/anime/2018/08/10/sword-art-online-season-3-premiere-international-simulcast/
Sword Art Online fans are hyped about the anime's return for season 3 this fall, especially since the new season will cover the highly-acclaimed "Alicization Arc" from the manga. In fact, Sword Art Online season 3 has generated enough of a buzz that an entire worldwide premiere event will be held for it!
Moca News dropped the announcement of the event - here are the details, as translated by My Anime List:
"Sword Art Online: Alicization anime series holds world premiere event in seven countries featuring the one-hour special first episode, including Japan, the United States, Australia, France, Germany, Russia, and South Korea."
This premiere event for Sword Art Online season 3 just proves what kind of worldwide exposure anime has gotten in the last few years. Other series like Dragon Ball Super and Attack on Titan have recently held similar big screening events - to packed houses, in a lot of cases. After the premiere, season 3 will cover all of the "Alicization Arc," resulting in Sword Art Online's longest season yet (potentially 40+ episodes or more).
Premiering this October, the third season of Sword Art Online is set to adapt the 'Alicization' arc which takes part in Volumes 9-18 of Reki Kawahara’s light novel series. In 2026, Kirito is offered a job with Rath. He's asked to work for the firm in order to test a new type of FullDive equipment known as the Soul Translator. But Rath had no plans to make a new FullDive gaming console. Instead, the firm is working to make a new military AI.
For those unfamiliar with Sword Art Online, the series was originally created by Reki Kawahara with illustrations provided by abec. The series follows a boy named Kirito after he and thousands of gamers get trapped in a virtual reality video game known as Sword Art Online. The gamers must band together to defeat the game’s final level to escape, but Kirito and his guild learn there is more behind their prison than they were originally told.

The series began as a series of light novels published through Dengeki Bunko in 2009, and has been adapted into eight different manga series by ASCII Media Works and Kadokawa. The series has been licensed for an English language release by Yen Press, and has been adapted into an anime series by A-1 Pictures.

'One Punch Man' May Drop Season 2's Premiere This Week

Link: http://comicbook.com/anime/2018/08/09/one-punch-man-season-2-premiere-episode-release-rumor-anime/
It has been years since One Punch Man smashed into the anime scene, and fans aren’t ready to forget the hero just yet. The fan-favorite series has become a go-to superhero title, and it seems Saitama may have a surprise in store for fans.
After all, a new rumor says One Punch Man is preparing to debut its second season, and the premiere could go live way sooner than expected.
Over on Twitter, a well-known anime insider known as Yonkou Productions got fans buzzing when he dropped an alleged scoop about One Punch Man. According to his report, the first episode of One Punch Man’s second season will be released this weekend.
As the rumor goes, One Punch Man is slated to premiere the episode at an anime festival in Japan this weekend. The show will be highlighted at an event on Sunday, August 12 in Tokyo. The event has been eyed as a place where season two news may drop, and a previous rumor from Japan in May hinted at the premiere debuting there as well.
So far, J.C. Staff hasn’t made any official comment on when One Punch Man will share its new season or just its premiere. The company took over production on the show after Madhouse oversee season one. Fans are eager to see how the show will change now that it has changed hands, and Saitama’s beloved brand of sarcasm has been deeply missed.

Should this rumor prove true, then fans will be excited to see how the anime is faring. Viz Media already confirmed it has licensed One Punch Man's second season for U.S. fans, so there is headway being made on the title. As for when all of season two will drop, well - there isn't great news. According to the current rumor, One Punch Man may not be ready to release the new season completely until January 2020. So, for now, fans will want to keep their ears tuned into J.C. Staff as the company approaches its appearance at this weekend's big anime gathering.

Toonami Exec Opens Up About Its Big Expansion And Popularity

Link: http://comicbook.com/anime/2018/08/09/toonami-expansion-growth-adult-swim-anime-popular/
When it comes to watching anime, there are more ways to tune in that ever before. The medium has grown leaps thanks to its streaming services, but its TV ties are also important to note. These days, anime is growing on cable, and the man behind Toonami is opening up about that shift.
Over on Ask FM, Jason DeMarco addressed the recent growth of Toonami. The block is one of Adult Swim’s late programs on Saturdays, and it has expanded plenty in the last year. However, that kind of growth is still hard to believe in DeMarco’s case.
When asked about Toonami’s resurgence, the co-creator and producer said he is as surprised as anyone else by the program’s turnaround.
“Yep I’m as surprised by the recent turn of events as you are,” DeMarco said.
“I’ll just say that the network has long range plans for Toonami and ratings are only one factor by which it’s success will be measured.”
This comment comes shortly after the latest change was made to Toonami. Last week, fans learned the late-night block was expanding to begin at 10:00 p.m. EST rather than 10:30. My Hero Academia will lead the line-up before Dragon Ball Super takes over. Other titles like Attack on Titan, Pop Team Epic, Hunter x Hunter, and more are also taking part in the new line-up.
Given anime’s very public rise in popularity, the move to expand Toonami proves the mainstream movement of the medium. Dragon Ball Super airs every weekday on Adult Swim now, further cementing anime’s return. So, fingers crossed Cartoon Network will lean back into its anime ties should ratings hold steady.
So, will you be tuning into Toonami regularly now?Let me know in the comments or hit me up on Twitter @MeganPetersCB to talk all things comics and anime! You can check out Toonami's newlineup beginning on August 17 below:

Hiro Mashima Teases Fans With A 'Fairy Tail' Announcement

Link: http://comicbook.com/anime/2018/08/09/fairy-tail-anime-manga-announcement-tease-hiro-mashima/
Fairy Tail might have gone quiet for awhile, but the magical franchise isn’t down to fade out. The franchise is back with a sequel, and its final season is on the way. And, according to its creator, another mysterious announcement is on the way.
Hopefully, it bodes well for all you anime collectors out there!
Taking to Twitter, Hiro Mashima reached out to fans and teased them about a recent meeting he attended. The artist teased followers about a new collection of “goodies” and his desire to tell everyone about them already.
“I oversaw the new Fairy Tail goodies, and I really want them! I hope to announce them soon,” Mashima wrote.
So far, there is no word on what these goodies could be, but fans have their hopes. On social media, fans left and right are pleading for the announcement to involve a console title. However, it seems far more likely the teaser is about actual anime merchandise. After all, the show is making an awaited comeback this fall, making it the perfect time to get new merchandise on the market. So, if you have been in the market for a Natsu Dragneel plush, you may want to hold off until Mashima goes live with this latest tease.

For those unfamiliar with Hiro Mashima's work Fairy Tail, the series was originally created by Hiro Mashima. It is set in a fantasy world full of magic, and Natsu Dragneel is a fire breathing wizard with the powers of a dragon, and is in search of his missing foster father, the dragon Igneel. As he and his wizarding guild Fairy Tail get into adventures, Natsu always tries to find a way to succeed. The series ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from August 2006 to July 2017 and has spawned 60 million copies. It was later adapted into an anime by A-1 Pictures, Dentsu Inc., and Satelight in 2009 and ended its first run in 2013. A second series ran from 2014 to 2016, and a third series is planned for a Fall release.

So, what is the one piece of Fairy Tail merchandise the brand needs to come out with? Let me know in the comments or hit me up on Twitter @MeganPetersCB to talk all things comics and anime!
